Updates!

The Job

All the snarls were worked out of the job issue, thank goodness.

The thing with the insurance was this: I am an independant contractor. This company requires all contractors to have $1 Million worth of business insurance, and $1 Million of insurance for vehicular liability. If I had gone through a contracting company, they would have had the insurance, and it wouldn't have been any issue at all. The fact that I'm independant puts that responsibility squarely at my feet.

We solved this by having me join the company on a "Full Time / Temporary" capacity. It took until after 4PM that Friday to work it out.

PHEW!

I started last Monday, and its been a really good opportunity ever since.

This is good, as I really wasn't looking forward to being on unemployment.

The Adoption

Notice this is second. Not that its second in our minds, but that is exactly how much news we have. :)

We're two weeks away from our docs having been over there for two months.

Our fingers are crossed that something happens soon!

The Quilt

I'm starting to get squares from friends and family. I've got one person out there in blog-land sending me a square so far.

If you're interested, let me know! :) I'd love to have you participate.

The simple things ..

... in life are sometimes sweetest. Or something like that.

DH and I are living in a construction zone this week. Our cat is on vacation with my parents. (Thats for another post, but I think we're going to have to do a Navy Seal type rescue mission to get him back. Just a teaser: they gave him cat nip. We're hosed.)

But, for putting up with the construction we get a newly re-wired, re-plumbed apartment in addition to brand new windows and doors ... but the true gem of the week?

A NEW WASHER DRYER!!!

I'm so pathetic.

:)

Commando raid to rescue cat will be on Saturday. I'll update if we survive. LOLOLOLOL

Job

So things aren't progressing as well as they could here in Next Step land. This job was supposed to start this past Monday, but due to a mis-communication error, I now start one week later.

Ok, no problem. I get a week of errands and the baby registry (and maybe a facial) out of the way.

Yesterday I got the news that because I'm going to be direct-contracting with this company I need all kinds of crazy insurance. Insurance I just cannot and do not want to afford.

Can we all say, Monkey Wrench?

So I'm carrying my cell everywhere, hoping that something can be done by this coming Monday.

If nothing comes through, I'll be on unemployment. It sucks, but while I'm looking for another option, I don't have any other choice.

The Open Window

The Open Window

We have someone in our midst who needs some support. Head on over and cheer her on. :)

Couple, Few Things.

1. If you'd like to participate in the quilt, I would love it. Post here and I will get in touch (via your blog or the email addy you leave me) to let you know where you can share your love. :)

2. I am employed. I got confirmation today, so I'm happy to share the great news. From the sound of it this contract will go until the baby comes home. They know all about the adoption, and are aware of the time committment and everything else that is involved.

3. Right now, no posts are good news. Nothing tragic is a good thing.

4. Can't think of a #4.

Have a great night, y'all. :)
